Hot Melt Technologies was founded in Rochester, Michigan as a supplier of hot melt equipment and related solutions for America’s automotive industry as they moved away from solvent-based adhesives.
- In 1989, we introduced our first generation ProFlex® hot melt systems – the first completely modular hot melt system designed for high performance industrial hot melt adhesive applications.
HMT focused on the growing need for hot melt systems and components that could withstand the rigors of industrial handgun and automatic gun applications.
- In the early 1990s we introduced our lightweight DG series handguns with the revolutionary 360-Plus® Ball Swivel.
- HMT introduced the industry’s first “cool touch” automatic guns capable of independent or synchronous firing.
- We developed a complete line of interchangeable gear pumps designed to dispense the challenging adhesives being developed for industrial assembly operations.
- HMT was awarded a U.S. Patent for its melt-on-demand interchangeable melt tanks.
- Our Benchmark® systems were introduced as cost effective, out-of-the-box, hot melt systems for lower volume users.
- HMT was certified ISO 9000 compliant.
In the 2000s, HMT continued to diversify its product lines to meet the growing demands for hot melt product assembly.
- HMT unveiled the 1st Generation Genesys microprocessor system controls for ProFlex and Benchmark.
- We developed the DG2000 handgun for use in the cabinet and woodworking industries.
- We launched the Benchmark 600 Series for use in the Insulated Glass (I.G.) industry.
- We introduced a series of high-performance melt tanks with auxiliary melt grids to enhance melt rates and reduce degradation.
- HMT Auto-Pack® systems were developed with a focus on the traditional automatic packaging applications using our industrial strength components.
- The ProFlex 6000 series of equipment was introduced for BIG applications with tank capacities up to 200 lbs.
HMT further refined its equipment offerings and support teams to assure complete customer satisfaction and trust.
- All HMT equipment was certified to meet UL and CSA electrical safety standards.
- We upgraded all our equipment with built-in GFEP protection along with anti-static safeguards.
- We introduced variable speed AC pump drive motors with key-to-line functionality.
- Flow Metering and monitoring devices were made available for very precise adhesive dispensing applications.
- Pro-Fill systems were introduced to automatically fill the melt tanks with pelletized adhesives.
- And for non-pelletized adhesive users, HMT patented its Load-Alert® systems to remind the operator to manually “keep the tank full.”
